Greg Baker is the managing member of Greg Baker, Attorneys at Law, PLLC. Greg has over thirty years of experience in the law and a member of the Virginia State Bar. He has served as a state court judge, drug court judge, commissioner of accounts, special prosecutor, defense attorney, and county and town attorney, managed several general practice law firms and been a law school professor at three Virginia law schools where he has helped many students pass the Virginia Bar Examination. He is a law graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Greg Baker serves the 29th Judicial Circuit of Virginia to the Virginia State Bar Council. The Council is the governing body for the Virginia State Bar that oversees the operation of the bar and lawyers in general as well as working with the judicial branch to improve the administration of justice. Mr. Baker also is appointed as a Commissioner of Accounts by the Circuit Courts of Dickenson and Wise Counties.
Greg grew up in Clintwood, Dickenson County, Virginia and considers it a real privilege to practice in the Southwest Virginia coalfield counties. Greg’s focus is criminal law, representing children as a guardian ad litem and personal injury and other accident cases. He believes his vast experience in the law makes him uniquely qualified to educate, counsel and represent you in a very effective manner. He is keenly aware of the importance of each case to the client and strives to give your case all the time and attention it deserves. It is our goal to provide our clients with effective and efficient representation that protect and advance their interests.
Susan J. Wood is an attorney at Greg Baker, Attorneys at Law, PLLC. Susan is a member of the Virginia State Bar who primarily practices family law, including child custody, divorce, and adoption. Susan represents the Dickenson County Department of Social Services. Prior to beginning private practice, she served as a judicial law clerk to Circuit Court Judge Henry A. Vanover. She gained valuable experience researching and analyzing legal issues before the Circuit Court.
Susan is a graduate of Appalachian School of Law, Magna Cum Laude. While studying law at the Appalachian School of Law she served as an Associate Editor and Senior Notes and Comments Editor for the Appalachian Journal of Law. Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from King College (now King University), Magna Cum Laude.
Susan is a native of Haysi, Dickenson County, Virginia. She is honored to practice law in the community where she was born and raised.
Ashley is a 2017 graduate from the Appalachian School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2014 from the University of Pikeville. She is a member of the Kentucky State Bar. Ashley is a Belfry High School graduate and is proud to serve the people of eastern Kentucky.
While at Appalachian School of Law, Ashley gained valuable knowledge of the courtroom while serving as a summer extern for Honorable Darrell Mullins, retired Pike County District Court Judge. She served as an elected Senator in the Student Bar Association, competed on both the school’s Moot Court and Mock Trial teams, and served her community as President of Phi Delta Phi, a legal honors society at Appalachian School of Law.
After graduation, Ashley was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She began her career focusing on Kentucky workers’ compensation defense. Ashley has joined the legal team of Greg Baker Attorneys at Law, PLLC, with offices in Wise and Clintwood, Virginia and Whitesburg, Kentucky. She will practice a variety of areas that will include criminal and civil litigation, personal injury, family law matters, BK7, and workers’ compensation. With the addition of Ashley, the law firm is pleased to expand its coverage areas to the City of Jenkins, City of Whitesburg and Pike and Letcher counties, as well as other locations throughout South Eastern Kentucky.
Kyle B. Kilgore is an attorney at Greg Baker, Attorneys at Law, PLLC.
Kyle is a 2019 graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Law. Kyle received his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University in 2015. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar. Kyle will be handling criminal cases as well as civil cases for the firm.
Previously, Kyle worked as a summer associate for Mullins, Harris, Jessee and Dotson located in Norton, Virginia, as well as for The Mitchell Firm, a Professional Corporation, located in Blacksburg, VA.
Kyle is a Scott County native like his father, Terry Kilgore, who serves as Of Counsel to our firm. He grew up working on his family’s farm. He has returned to his roots of Southwest Virginia to serve the area that he calls home. He is another welcomed addition to Greg Baker Attorneys at Law PLLC, whose motto is over 75 years’ experience of Hometown Lawyers serving Hometown People. Kyle will be handling cases throughout several Southwest Virginia counties and will be headquartered in the Wise Virginia office.
Jennifer L. “Jenny” Taylor is an attorney at the new Pikeville, KY location of Greg Baker, Attorneys at Law, PLLC. Jennifer is a member of the Kentucky Bar, Florida Bar, the United State Eastern District Court of Kentucky, and the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer worked as a felony prosecutor for the state of Florida followed by being a solo practitioner in Pike County, Kentucky. She has her Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) certification.
During her four years as a felony prosecutor, she handled over 2000 cases ranging from simple possession of a controlled substance to murder and everything in between. During her tenure, she worked as a special prosecutor under the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). During that period, she was responsible for handling the most violent domestic violence offenses committed in several counties. As a prosecutor, she gained valuable knowledge from both practicing law, receiving special training, and educating law enforcement. Jennifer has participated in over 25 jury trials and 100 bench trials.
Since 2012, Jennifer has been practicing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a solo practitioner. During this time, she has handled both civil and criminal cases throughout eastern Kentucky. She is experienced in both state and federal court.
Jennifer is a 1999 graduate of Belfry High School, 2003 graduate of Marshall University, and 2007 graduate of Florida Coastal School of Law. She is a native of Pike County, Kentucky.
With the addition of Jennifer, the law firm is pleased to open a new office in downtown Pikeville, Kentucky. The office is located in the BB&T building across from the Pike County Judicial Center. With the addition of this new office, the firm has expanded its’ coverage areas such to the counties of Pike, Floyd, Johnson, Martin, Lawrence, and Magoffin.
Jennifer will be handling cases in family, and circuit courts along with federal district and bankruptcy courts. Her area primary areas of practice will be criminal defense, divorce, custody and visitation cases, spousal support, civil litigation especially worker’s compensation and car accidents along worth wills, deeds probate matters and other civil matters.

Terry is well-known throughout Southwest Virginia and the Commonwealth for his success as a practicing attorney. Terry has negotiated and tried thousands of cases in over 30+ years of experience with great results for his clients.
Terry is a 1986 graduate from the Marshall Wythe School of Law at William and Mary where he received his Juris Doctorate. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Terry is a member of the Virginia State Bar.
Terry is a Scott County native and is proud to serve Southwest Virginia. Terry’s service to his community runs deep and wide, having served as Commonwealth Attorney for Scott County, a longtime member of the Virginia House of Delegates where he is a senior member. He serves on numerous boards and commissions and legislative committees several which he is Chairman.
Terry will work with the firm on a number of cases both criminal and civil and will be a key asset with the firm’s representation of local governments and agencies. His addition as Of Counsel will help serve our clients even better and expand the law firm’s coverage into additional practice areas in Southwest Virginia and across the Commonwealth.
Charles Alex Wright (“Chuck”) is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is excited to join the Greg Baker Attorneys at Law, PLLC team. Chuck will proudly serve Wise County and Southwest Virginia from our Wise office.
Chuck is a native of Bland County, Virginia. In 2019, Chuck received his Juris Doctorate from Appalachian School of Law. Prior to attending ASL, Chuck received his Bachelor’s in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech.
Before joining our team, Chuck served as a summer associate at Galumbeck & Kegley in Tazewell, Virginia; he also served as a summer intern in the Bland County Commonwealth Attorney’s office.
Chuck’s practice includes the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, family law, property disputes, other civil litigation and the preparation of legal documents such as deeds, wills and power of attorneys.

Alexandra Dove Goodpaster has joined Greg Baker Attorneys at Law PLLC in our new Abingdon, Virginia location. Dove is a 2015 graduate of the Appalachian School of Law, and received her Bachelor’s in 2010 from Virginia Tech. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar. Dove is a native of Haysi, Dickenson County, Virginia and is a graduate of Haysi High School.
During law school, Dove served as an intern for the Dickenson County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. She was also the Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the Natural Resources Law Journal, and was a member of the Student Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, Dove served as law clerk for the Honorable Henry Vanover, Circuit Court Judge for Dickenson County and was a Staff Attorney at Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society. While at Legal Aid, Dove represented low-income Virginians, primarily victims of crime under the Victims of Crime Act. Dove has experience with family law including custody, visitation, and divorce, as well as housing, consumer, public benefits, and general civil matters. Dove has been a member of local Community Coordinated Response Teams for Washington County and the City of Bristol, Smyth County, and Emory and Henry College, focusing on improving responses for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
With the addition of Dove, the law firm is pleased to expand its coverage areas to the City of Bristol, Washington, and Smyth counties. She is proud to serve the people of Southwest Virginia.
